Once again the pagers of the Hagerman Fire Department sprang to life to welcome the 2010 Brush Fire Season. Hagerman was out in full force responding to over 30 brush fires ranging from less than one acre to close to five acres. Along with the brush fires the department also responded to a number of other calls including automatic alarms and mva's making this appear to be a record breaking call year. The brush fires were scattered throughout the district and at one point required the manpower and equipment from at least 10 other departments. While to causes of the fires is unknown, the recent hot, dry weather was a factor to promote the spread of the fires. At one location Brookhaven Town responded with a Caterpillar Bulldozer to help create a fire break and allow for access of a tower ladder to be brought in to finish the fire from above.
*A Great Job was done by all during this exhausting time and a special thanks to the Mutual Aid Departments for their hard work.
