September 5th, 2010 - Morning House Fire Spotted by a Neighbor.

Just after 6:00am Hagerman was activated for a reported Structure Fire in the vicinity of Americus Avenue and Brookhaven Avenue.  First arriving Chief (30) John Tew reported there was nothing showing and to have the dispatcher re-contact the caller for a better location.  It was determined that the house was located behind the complainant's house on Amsterdam Ave.  Engine 3 arrived on scene with Chief to find that the siding of the house had caught fire up to the roof line but the homeowner had put the fire out with a garden hose.  2nd Lieutenant Ralph Lettieri jr had the crew stretch a dry 1 3/4" line to the 4 side of the house as a precaution while the search team checked for any possible extension into the house.  Truck 10 and Engine 5 also responded to the scene and truck's crew helped set up ventilation fans under direction of Captain Kenny Mudrack.  Engine 5 placed itself next to the closest hydrant incase a positive water supply was needed.  After a thorough check of the house it was determined that the fire was contained to the outside of the home only, and all searches of the house were deemed negative.  All units were back in service within 1 hour.
