Two days after a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 10, 2010, killing hundreds of thousands of people, our very own Firefighter/Commissioner Randy Miller responded with the New York Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team. Miller and the rest of his team members spent 7 exhausting days searching the collapsed ruins for live people. Miller and his team helped rescue two adults and four children from the ravaged city. Upon their return to New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg honored the Team at City Hall and thanked them for the courageous actions.
