On December 8th, Hagerman was holding its monthly Department Meeting and special elections for 2012 when the meeting was halted for a structure fire. 1st Assistant Chief, Tony Citarella was first on scene and reactivated the working fire. Engine's 3, 5 & 6 and Truck 10 responded for Hagerman, with mutual aid from North Patchogue and Bellport. Units arrived on scene to find heavy fire in the rear of the house and quickly went to work. The hose team made entry and was able to knock the bulk of the fire down. Search teams swept the house and deemed it to be empty. Crews overhauled the interior of the house and wet down any lingering hot spots. The scene was turned over to the Arson Investigator and Suffolk County Police and all units were back in service within an 1 1/2hrs.
