Hagerman's Dive Team utilizes a custom 2016 Lake Assault Fire Boat.  At 28 Ft long  and 9 1/2 ft wide sitting on an all welded aluminum body complete with an enclosed pilot house, providing maximum deck space for operations.  Housed below sits a 6-liter marinized V8 General Motors engine that feeds a Darley PSDE fire pump. The powerful pump can deliver 1,500 gallons per minute at 150 pounds per square inch, allowing the boat to perform as a “floating fire hydrant.” The boat also has an extensive  electronics package, including dual-screen radar, GPS, and a FLIR infrared camera, all of which will be used in rescue and recovery missions.

Being located directly on the south shore means the Department covers a large portion of the Great South Bay. Hagerman has mutual aid agreements in place with neighboring departments from Patchogue and Bellport. Anytime these departments are activated for a water rescue, Hagerman is also activated  to respond with the dive boat to the incident.  This also works in opposite, if Hagerman is activated for a water rescue, both Bellport and Patchogue will respond into the incident as well.

Hagerman is also part of BAMSAR (Bay Area Marine Search and Rescue) which includes a number of other departments with dive teams on the south shore extending from Bayport to Sag Harbor.
